Affordable Outreach, building low-cost websites for smaller churches

Lack of finances is no reason for a church not to have a great website. If your budget doesn't allow for hiring a web designer for hundreds of dollars, we've got you covered!

For just the cost of the domain and hosting, you can have your own custom website. We provide the website construction service at no charge. We'll build up to three pages for free.

Each web page will have your logo, contact information, location, and schedule. You will need to provide photos and text. We have a checklist you can use for deciding what to include on your website.

In today's world, the first place people go to find anything, including a church, is the internet. A church without a website is like a church without a sign in front.

If your website is outdated, unattractive, or doesn't exist, your chances of attracting visitors is dramatically decreased. This is not just about church growth, although that may happen. This is about sharing the love of God with people in your community. It's about drawing people in. Sharing warmth and safety in a stressed-filled world full of  hurting, lonely, anxious people. Sharing your place of worship where people can hear the word of God, praise and worship Jesus, where the Holy Spirit is welcome to fill hearts, and souls get saved.

Why not just have a Facebook page?

There are plenty of reasons why a church should have a Facebook page. Here are a few reasons why that's not enough.

  • Storage of Media: Your website gives you an allotment of data (depending on your plan) so you can upload files, audio, video, and photos and actually store them there.

  • Basic Expectation: Today, if you don't have a website, people may assume your church is out of touch. Research shows that your website, or lack of it, creates people's first impression of your church.

  • Ownership: Every church should have an active Facebook page. This is indisputable. But you don't have complete control over what happens there. You do have control over your website because it belongs to you.

  • Appearance: Facebook pages look like Facebook. Your website will have its own look, hopefully reflecting the culture of your own church.

  • You can organize it so your content is easy to find. Some people simply don't use Facebook and aren't familiar with it. It can be a little tricky to find specific information on a Facebook page.

It is our goal to create for you a beautiful and functional website that will reflect the culture of your church and community at a low, affordable cost.

We use Weebly, Squarespace, and Wix to build websites. We use the free templates they have to offer, drag and drop your content in, and you can have a professional looking website in a few hours or a few days, depending on how busy we are. Download the checklist to get started gathering and writing your website content.

Construction of your home page and two other pages is a free gift. If you want more than that, we charge $50 setup fee per page. Hosting will run between $80 - $170 per year depending on the features you select. If you have absolutely no budget for this, you can get a free site with a Weebly sub-domain. For example:

Your website should introduce people to your church and help put them at ease about walking through your door for the first time. Here are some of the things people want to know. Download PDF, Word Doc, or use online form.

Unlike the traditional phone book, your website can give much more than a phone number and address. Many visitors come because they saw your website, it put them at ease, and it answered their most important questions.

PLEASE NOTE: It is the client's responsibility to write the website content. You can use the list above to give you a basic framework of information to include. It's kind of starting with an outline. Then you take that information you've gathered, and write sentences in paragraphs. Do your best composing, using correct spelling and capitalization. I can help with grammar and punctuation, but if I have to write or rewrite your content to make it acceptable for publication, there will be an extra fee involved. Designing your website doesn't include writing your content. Believe me, I've been both client and designer. I know it's not easy but your website content will be great because you put in some hard work to make it so.

My name is Heather Strom. I am married and have four kids, four grandkids, and two cats. I'm a self-taught amateur web designer. I also dabble with Photoshop Elements to create graphics churches can use for visual media presentations.

At Affordable Outreach, we seek to provide simple websites that are attractive, informative, and easy to maintain, at a low cost that smaller churches can afford. If you would like to help support the cause, there is a donate button in the footer.

If you are a web designer, graphic designer, or photographer, amateur or professional--we're not too picky, and would like to help develop an online presence for small churches (unpaid), I'd love to talk to you. Contact me
